The
Westbury Kitchen Island ($1,149) from Ballard Designs has gorgeous
turned wood legs. Other details, such as molding around the drawers, raised panel doors, and hinged wings are what put this kitchen island on my short list. Handcrafted of solid pine and pine veneers, the whole piece is extra durable to ensure that it will stand up to the wear and tear of a serious home chef. The hinged wings expand the working space by almost two feet, and the double doors and three drawers allow you to store needed utensils within easy reach.
