French textile design and applied arts student Elisabeth Buecher designed My Shower is a Green Warrior (prototype), which fights water overconsumption by slowly inflating around you while you shower, leaving you only a few minutes to take your shower before trapping you. It uses innovative materials, printing techniques and inflatable technology to do so, but I think her experimental thinking is what's key to this design. I love that it awakens people to their behavior, allowing them to change it before the curtain inevitably traps them. It's probably too unpleasant for most, but I think it could work wonders in places like hostels or extreme dry climates, where long showers should be a luxury to begin with. Buecher also designed a shower curtain with spikes that inflate, slowly pushing you out of the shower; see it here.

9That is absolutely hilarious. I just keep a kitchen timer in the bathroom and set it to keep all my showers under 7 minutes. It keeps ringing until I get out, so it's definitely incentive to just wash and go!
10Hilarious but no. Long showers or baths are my one big indulgence- I've got a giant mane of curls to wash which takes forever to comb conditioner through, and it's my only time to think or talk things over with the husband. Down the road we'll put in some kind of gray water system so it's not wasting as much well water, but I will not give up my long warm showers/baths when I live in a rainy climate and have my own well.
11I'm all for water conservation, including taking shorter showers, but I'd have a panic attack if something started closing around me like that.

14That thing looks like it could kill me so I owuld never put that in my shower. I would use a timer first.
