I just came across this image from the portfolio of interior designer and style consultant Karina Garrick. I'm completely smitten with how she has matched the color of this desk and pair of table lamps to that of the wainscoting. It's completely unexpected and refreshing, especially for a space that is otherwise very traditional in style. I think it's super fun but also subdued, but I know it won't appeal to everyone, especially since the color matching does make the fantastic shape of the desk blend in, which is unfortunate. What do you think?

Nice desk but too matchy-matchy. I'll most likely walk right into it and bust my pinky toe.
I like the overall color scheme but it's too much.
I like it, but I didn't even see it in the pic at first. I'd be afraid others would make the same mistake and run into it . . .
Oooh, I kind of like it!
I like the desk too much for me to want to hide it like that. I'd paint it a different color to make it stand out.
I like it. I like that it looks almost "built in". and I like that it wouldn't look like it's taking up floor space, giving the appearance of a more spacious room.
Still looks a little too monochrome to me. What if you added a vase filled w/ branches and tiny white flowers? That would add some contrast, I think.
I like this! I did this in white in my diningroom.
I really like it, except for the lampshades, just a little too much for me.
I love it
I love the colour scheme, but hate the matchy-matchy. Why not choose a third shade of purple and change the colour of the desk? Or be bold and stain it with an oak-mahogony finish.
Third shade or color sounds good to me SKC...
Perhaps bring out the gray or light blue?
Pass. Boring.
This is an innovative and inspirational use of colour, a curious juxtaposition between modesty and confidence. I'm very impressed!
