If you have one main bookshelf to house all the books for your family, try arranging books by each family member. Kids' books can stay on lower shelves, where they can easily be accessed. Try keeping reference texts, such as dictionaries and encyclopedias, in the middle, and adults' book on higher shelves. Encourage family members to take responsibility for keeping their book sections tidy and organized, and to visit their books often.

My husband and I mainly keep our books on separate shelves, but sometimes mine trickle over onto his because I have so many!
1Luckily I only have mine to worry about.
