Sometimes even decorating a casual living space can become a formal process. So when I stumbled upon this casual yet polished room on Design*Sponge, a space that's quite easy to replicate, I thought I'd share it with you.
The furnishings in this room are readily available, which will make getting this look in your home a breeze. First of all, they've chosen mid-century seating, which is pretty common on Craigslist, at flea markets, and the like. A beautiful kilim is the dominant furnishing in the room; touches of focused artwork pull it all together; and soft, light gray walls create a calm backdrop. And the galvanized tin bucket filled with lavender, which you can pick up at your local garden shop, adds a lovely scent. To see some pieces to re-create this look, read more.

As a renter living in an architecturally-lacking apartment, it is nice to see a room that can serve as slightly more realistic inspiration.
1That is a beautiful room. I have been thinking of buying the CB2 coffee table you feature. Can't decide if 12" would look TOO weird in my home, though! that is so low!
2CB2 used to sell a side table version of that table with a marble top called the "Smart" table, much like the two shown here. I'm not sure if they're still available but you should check them out.
3What a great idea, Casa. Thanks
4I like this room, too. Some of the elements come across retro to me (in a good way). Also, I like how some of the framed artwork is on the ground, propped against the wall. Nice.
5Not really my style, but it's a nice-looking room.
