It's hard to come by an attractive file cabinet. So, why not forgo them altogether? The Egg Collective File Table (inquire for price) is a white, powder-coated steel desk with a built-in file tray. The table allows you to keep your files close at hand on the face of the desk itself, and frees up floor space which would otherwise be taken by a separate cabinet. Beyond its clever design, it's also simply handsome and reminds me of my one of my all-time faves, the West Elm Parsons Desk. What do you think?

1I think aimeeb and I have completely different tastes, 'cause I love this. No more stacks of files on my desk! No fugly gray file cabinet! Brilliant!
If you have to inquire for the price I'm betting it's pretty steep, but this seems almost too easy to Ikea-hack.
2I'm on the fence about this one...
3This is a pretty cool idea. Not good or practical of course for storing a lot of files, but great to have the ones you frequently need close by.
4Actually we own Ikea desks for our office that came with this sort of thing as an add on. It connects to the end of my desk and has bars for the hanging files and canvas inserts that give me little storage compartments. I feel like that desk above would need to be a little bigger to have enough table space for me.

6I feel I would bump the files with my knees and they'd fall and scatter paper all over the place.
7I don't think this is very practical. One can bump it with their knee or chair.
8As well, there is no privacy for the files. In an office seeting, that would not work.
It's okay...I think I like a separate wooden filing cabinet like the one I own a little better, though.
