You'd better sit down for this. I came across some terrible news today that has sent me into shelter-mag mourning. Condé Nast has decided to fold its prize decorating magazine, Domino, just two weeks after sending in Senior Vice President Bill Wackermann to increase ad sales. The shelter category has seen the close of O at Home, Home, Cottage Living, and Wish this year alone, and last year we said goodbye to long-running title House and Garden and beloved newbie Blueprint. Seeing as we all named Domino as our favorite shelter magazine of 2008, this is a sad day for all of us. Hopefully, the magazine will live on in some format or another, but regardless, I'm stashing my issues away for safe-keeping.

i just saw this on perez and came rushing here to check if it was really true! i can't believe it!
i love domino. it's one of the few shelter mags that, in my opinion, really captures the style of younger women. i'm going to miss it.
I just read the news on apartment therapy...how sad!!! I l-o-v-e domino!! =(
aww this sucks!! Domino and Lucky are my two favorite magazines and I am a magazine junkie!!! I've watched some good magazines go down.. what happens when I have a subscription??
NOOOOO! Say it isn't so!
oh nonononononono!!!

Not a surprise - there have been rumors to this effect since at least November.
I am SO incredibly sad!
This REALLY sucks. I love that magazine.
Am very bummed... esp. after Blueprint shuttered-- this became my go to magazine for home dec... But it's not surprising... if companies aren't selling, they won't have $ for ads... it's all trickle down... sad but true... as consumers we're likely to see a lot of our favorite things disappear-- esp. small businesses and publications like this-- ESPECIALLY if we don't start spending $!!! It's one of the quirks of a recession-- we don't spend $ and then businesses have less cash flow to survive (and lord knows they don't have access to credit the same way many big guys do)... So maybe we can jumpstart a recovery by actually spending $ wisely? What do you think? (Wisely is the key word).
Great, I just sent in a check to renew my subscription... literally, like two hours ago. I can be quite particular about magazines.. I wonder when exactly it will fold, and what they'll be sending me to fill out the rest of my subscription.
Two days ago I paid for a two year subscription! Oh no!
My heart is breaking...I love my Domino
Bummer, this was definitely my favorite home mag.
Nooooooooooooooooo!
It was my fave decorating mag, too. And I join the rest of you in mentioning that I just renewed my subscription!! How awful. And just think of all the editorial people who are losing their jobs on top of us losing our magazine!
i'm so sad. i don't know what i will read. what other good decorating magazines are there?!
i'm going to miss domino so much.
i was just about to subscribe to it too! bummer. it was a great magazine.
OMG NO! I love love love that magazine. I'm so sad.
This sucks! I love Domino! Good thing I've saved every issue they ever printed, I can get my fix for a bit.
My house looks so Domino, I have two zebra rugs.
I think I'm going to cry.
Awww, I was hoping it would survive. I just started subscribing a few months ago!
NOOOOO!!!!!!!!
NOoooooooooooooooooooo!
So very, very sad!
Domino is my all-time favorite magazine- this is horrible!!!
I just saw elsewhere that they are closing the website, too. I'll have too get a lot of stuff off of it before it goes.
Wow, that's awful. I knew there was a reason why I let my subscription lapse. I'll really miss it, that's for sure.
That is heartbreaking. Domino was my favorite house mag, full of great tid-bits, appealed to my taste (their shopping trip suggestions were invaluable!) - loved their features and loved that they showed things for different price points (so I too could affordably decorate!) - I'm truly dissapointed, I was a loyal subscriber for five years until now, I guess...
NOOOOO!! Domino is my favorite magazine! I have been a subsriber since its first issue. This makes me really sad!!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOO. We need to start a petition! This is bullsh*t. Total bullsh*t! No other design magazine matches Domino. It is amazing!!! I don't know how I will go on without it.!
Damn. This sucks!
Can't they take Lucky instead????
morgs, I kind of agree with you. Iused to love Lucky, but the last... oh maybe year or so it's fallen out of favor with e. They've had some fashion spreads with the fugliest ensembles I have ever seen!
I'll mourn Domino. So... with all of these mags folding... which shelter magazine out there is still selling?
I just feel like there are a ton of fashion magazines. This was the one younger market home magazine- it was just so well done. I'm still upset. Will there be one last issue or was the Zooey one it?
All of that being said, I know it's based on ad sales, but I think they could have charged a bit more for subscriptions. I loved how cheap it was to get a 2yr subscrip but I would have paid more.
As much as I loved them, about 3 years ago I realized they all just recycled the same articles over and over. New Colors! Best places to shop! Why Blue is the new Navy. I now just read online sites like yours.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Looks like March will be the last month of publication. Sad

I too just renewed my subscription. That stinks. It was one of my favorites, and it was never too think, that it was heavy to carry around in my bag. That's sad news.
No other magazine has brought me as much joy as Domino has over the years. I'm absolutely gutted that it's folding.
I hope Conde Nast will give the subscriber an option as to which other publications we can choose from next if we have months left on our subscription. Though every one will pale in comparison to Domino.
BUMMER!
This sucks. I agree Domino started out really great, had a lull the past year or two (or three) ...but I really felt it was coming back to the old Domino I knew and loved recently. Oh well, I have saved every issue, so at least I have that. It is seriously the ONLY shelter magazine I read.
SO BIZARRE!! A friend and I were commenting on our subscriptions, thinking the issues were getting lame. Must have been because they were strapped for cash and phishing for things to cover!
OH NO!!!!! It is one of the only mags that I bother to open anymore...even though I agree that it has been sliding lately...I am distraught.
