When it's sunny outside, leave your drapes open and your blinds up so the sun can warm the rooms. At night, close your drapes to keep the heat in. Heavy drapes work best.
If you have a ceiling fan, reverse its motor. This will send the warmth back down into the room.
Beat the chill with wool blankets when you set your thermostat at 55° F at night; turn it to 68° F in the day.
