When it comes to keeping your home tidy, comfortable, and well-decorated, every season has its particular challenges. However, Winter certainly seems to contain the majority of those. What do you find to be the most difficult part about maintaining your home in the Winter?

Melting bits of dirty snow being tracked over the carpets and the stepping on them with socks on!! Argh!!!
1Definitely the winter gear.
2Higher electricity bills...
3The dry air kills me because I have asthma. As far as keeping my house clean the muddy, wet, salt covered feet kill my floors.
4Drafty windows and people tracking in snow and dirt...shoes off at the door!
5It's the cats - we need them to spend more time outside so they don't go nutty but when it's cold and wet outside they just stay inside and tear up the place. I bet it's the same with kids.
6Rodents trying to escape the cold. For every crack you plug with hardware cloth, they find two more!
7That it's 80 degrees out - I'll take the chance to bundle up in a blanket any day!
8Our driveway has a slight incline getting into the (sideload) garage, and, as we have had more ice than snow here in Central Illinois this winter, it is VERRRY treacherous. Each one of the cars has been in danger of sliding down it into the bushes (oh, wait, that DID happen), or worse, the neighbor's yard. The teenager slid at the end of the drive over a 5-ft. tall bush and we had to get a tow truck to get it off!
We have gone through a lot of salt this winter so far!
9Peggasus-I know exactly what you're talking about. I live by Lake Michigan in Illinois and the ice is just scary.
I said other as more than one applies to me.
10I live in an apartment with super old single-pane windows...if I sit within 2 feet of them I'm instantly cold.
11Because our most used entry is so small it's all the gear cluttering up the area.
12And wanted to say that I adore the picture accompanying this article. So pretty and magical!
13We avoid the office just so that we don't have to heat up an extra room... and it has french doors. It is a heat sink.
14Where is the "all of the above" choice!
My heating bills are around 250-300 bucks for gas in the winter, we have door draft stops, plastic on all the windows and everything is caulked up tightly, but cold still finds its way in...
Right now I keep a basket in my kitchen to throw all of the hats, scarves, gloves, face guards, blah blah blah in... I look forward to putting that bin away in the spring.
My eating nook is currently cluttered with boots galore!
And my skin is as dry as sandpaper!
15I'm with you, ella 1978! Definitely need an "all of the above" selection.
