The decorations will come down within the week, but the tree should be with us year-round. We have a potted Norfolk Pine.
The tree and decorations come down the weekend after New Year's Eve. I try to keep it up until after Orthodox Christmas.
In Latino homes the tree stays up until Three Kings day, Jan. 6. I used love it when I was growing up, we always got an additional gift on that day.
The tree usually comes down when I find the energy.
It's always been superstition in my family that the tree has to stay up until at least new year's day!
Last year we kept ours until, like, the 2nd week of January! This year it'll probably go down sooner!
RosaDilia, my family is with you on this although we no longer next more gifts on 3 kings day we still leave the tree up until at least the 6th of January.
All of our decorations stay up until after Jan. 6th which is the feast of the Epiphany. We don't exhange gifts on that day either, like some of you.
Mine stays up until January 6 aka Three Kings Day or the Epiphany. It's a European tradition my family has kept. We do put ours up the Friday or Saturday after Christmas, the stockings are filled on December 6 (St. Nicolas day), open presents on Christmas Eve and take down the tree and decorations January 6. Only once has the tree been taken down after that.
We traditionally keep our Christmas tree and decorations up until New Year's Day.
I finished taking down/storing all my decorations Christmas night. After a month I'm so tired of all that extra clutter I'm more than ready to pack it up and start thinking of spring projects.
We normally wait until the weekend after new years. but this year it came down today the 27th. we just bought a new house and moved in right before christmas, decorated and then celebrated.
In Iceland, the last day of Christmas is the 6th and that's when we take down our decorations. We tend to leave our Christmas lights (the white ones) on for one or two months more to brighten up our days since we don't have so much of daylight. We also like to call them Winter lights rather than Christmas lights ... they really do make a difference
Epiphany: January 6th
I like to start the new year with a clean and fresh house, so mine is already down.
I may take mine down tomorrow but most likely it won't be down until the day after New Years
Til January 6th on Old Christmas.
Glad to see so many people that wait until Epiphany. Technically it's still Christmas until then, so the decorations should stay up! It doesn't hurt that it's a lot easier to wait a while after Christmas, until I have more energy!
It goes up a few days or a week before Christmas and stays up until Jan. 7.
If I didn't have this flu bug, I would have taken it down today.
I'm always
anxious to de-clutter the Christmas stuff and start the New Year with things feeling more open and organized!
valancyjane - same here- I was so (pleasantly) surprised to see so many who keep them up until the epiphany! And I thought the same thing as you - it's still Christmas so why wouldn't they stay up?
until we feel like taking it down sometime in January.
I wanted to keep it up until the 1st but it is a baby magnet so it might need to go away sooner.
it came down yesterday! I was so ready to get all the xmas stuff put away and get back to a neat, less clutterd house
Normally it comes down on Jan. 6. There's a tradition that says that leaving holiday decorations up after Epiphany (Jan. 6) is bad luck. I'm not superstitious, but that sounds like a good date to me, so we follow that tradition.
my mom's a grinch. she takes her tree down christmas day, along with all the other holiday decorations. my dad leaves the lights up until new year's, but this year he didn't put any up
NYD, and our tree is artificial; no needles.
I love how disorderly and spontaneous the tree in the picture featured is
Probably until Epiphany this year.
Epiphany: January 6th
We dont go out on new Years Eve so we take down the decorations and make tamales
We took it down New Years eve. Only because we had a NYE party, and our house is kinda small, and it was sorta in the way.
