In a recent Home Library post, I reviewed Ed Roth's book Stencil101, which gave simple instructions for adding stencil fun to your home. I decided to try out his swallow stencil in my entry. First, I used painter's tape to tape down the stencil flat against the wall. Then I carefully blotted white paint over the stencil with a nearly dry brush.

To see how it came out, read more.
Do you like it? This little bird has become the focus of the entry, especially since the coat rack spells out the word "Flock." Pretty appropriate, I'd say!

I wish the lighting was the same in both pictures.
1that is a great idea. it pains me that i rent and cannot do such things to my walls.
2I really like it. I usually think stencils are grandma-y but this is fun and chic.
3I love it!
4so sweet!
5These are very cute and I too rent so I can't paint but I've seen some cute wall decals that would work and I can move those around as much as I need to.
6for renters...there are some cute decals on this site that are removable.
