In a matter of six months, Suzy of Studio Annetta bought a house in Australia, moved in, gutted the house, renovated it, and then moved out. The house has since been sold, so she'll never get to enjoy her beautiful renovations, but you can! Shown here is the living room fireplace, a red brick eyesore with a Chinoiserie mirror on the mantel. The fireplace original to the house had been taken out, and stripped of its original moldings and architectural features. Suzy restored the room to its former glory, bringing in a more historically appropriate fireplace, painting the walls a bright white, and replacing the floorboards. The transformation is stunning, and really gave the space a sophisticated style with a historical presence. To see the after photo and more photos of her renovation, read more.
Isn't it a wonderful restoration? Studio Annetta has more photos and details about her renovation; be sure to check it out!

I love the bright white mantle! Looks great!
1Awesome!
The floor looks great and I like the white mantle. It looks timeless.
2Such a difference! It is really nice.
3It looks lovely - I wonder what the deal with the floor was? Was that a real parquet floor or something fake she tore out? Nice to see some stuff from other places around the globe. I wonder where in Australia it was.
4It looks fine along with the new floor. But the rest of that room needs to be worked on now.
5I agree Pink. Too much white.
6Thanks to Casa Sugar for featuring my old house! For those that were wondering, the flooring in the 'before' photo is horrible linoleum with a parquet pattern! Also, the walls were painted a warm light neutral, but appear as a white in these photos...it was actually much warmer in real life. We left the renovations at that stage because we moved overseas and it was pointless spending a tonne more money on a rental.
7looks much better. more contemporary but the rest of the room still needs work
8Yeah I agree with KatySoup. Its very pretty but there is a little too much white above the fireplace. However, I love the black + white contrast
