While I'm a fan of the retro look of these bright blue tiles, they don't mesh with the rest of the bathroom (pink floral wallpaper doesn't exactly complement them). The owners of this home, a 1905 Colonial Revival house recently featured on This Old House, also noted that the light switch was actually an electrical liability, since it wasn't grounded and sat above the bathtub.

The homeowners removed everything from the bathroom save the tub, and installed radiant heating under the new ceramic tile floors. Wainscoting adds a nice detail, and even cooler and greener, the wainscoting was made from beadboard they had stored in the basement! I love the understated, functional look of this bathroom. Do you?

I had that horrid blue tile plastered all over our bathroom too. Our renovations also look like the results, except we painted our walls a grayish-blue.
1Wow looks divine!
2Looks so glam now!!!
3I miss the color
4It's nice but I liked the tiles.
5Stunning transformation! I love this bathroom!!! Its so up to date and elegant.
6I love the tiles too! But I totally understand wanting to simplify with neutral colors. I'm currently working on designing a bathroom around a gold-speckled countertop and baby blue shower and sink. Scary!
74blankwalls, that sounds like it could be FUN! You should post photos!
if the gold speckled countertop is like I'm envisioning, I think you could do something retro and glamorous. For some reason I'm thinking of stars.
8wow, beautiful
9renovations seem to be trending into the WAY basic and neutral lately. i liked those tiles - they totally could have done something interesting around them. but noooo, let's make everything taupe and beige instead
10Boo. Now it's boring. The tile definitely could have been worked with.
11Nice.
12I look at that teal tile and then I look at the floral wallpaper above it and think, "Someone thought this looked good." And then I get all sad inside
13Oh, I also think that the whole beige bathroom is somewhat bland and show home-ish. I think I would have gone with a beautiful spa color like a light blue-green. However, for the person's taste who did it, I think they did a great job. I really love the double sink and mirror. It reminds me how much I need one!
14I think I would have worked with the tiles, but change the floor, sink, vanity.
15this is so much better, but would have gone with some color
16So instead of the big towel hanging from the towel bar, now they have 2 little towels on the counter folded. What do they do if they want to use the big towel?
