I'm intrigued by this closet, which Lovely Design turned into her sewing space. It's so perfectly organized, and it actually looks like a workable space. In one issue, ReadyMade showed readers how to transform closets into office spaces, craft corners, and even bedrooms, and Lovely Design's closet looks adorable and functional. I'm now tempted to transform one of my closets into a workspace. Would you ever do this?

Sure, but considering our storage (closet) space is already lacking, there's no way I could do this in our current house.
1Not when you live in NYC. Any closet space is very valuable here.
2i would if i need my crafting room for something else down the road.
3If I had a closet, I totally would (my house has NO built-ins...I'm not kidding).
I once saw in MArtha Stewart living this project that involved using two bookshelves to make a craft wardrobe. (With the bookshelves facing each other) Martha attached a metal hinge to one side, and put wheels on the others. She Decorated the backs of the bookshelves (which you see when the unit is closed) with molding and decorative paper. On the inside she created a mini secretary-style desk that folds out so you have a mini work station when the "closet" is open.
I'm sure I am not making sense to anyone else, so if someone knows what I'm talking about please link the project!
4FOUND IT! http://www.marthastewart.com/article/clever-office-hidden-space?autonomy...
5In my new apartment there's several huge closets, so this could totally work. The only thing I'd worry about is lighting, especially natural lighting. Also, having to deal with power cords leading into the closet. Hmmm...
6Which issue of Readymade had that article. I get the subsription but must have missed that one.
7I had a friend who lived in a small apartment and she did this, it was a great use of her closet since she did a lot of crafts. It would feel too chlosterphobic for me but it was a great solution for her.
8The Martha Stewart craft armoire is cool, but how do you stop all of the bottles and craft stuff on the right side, from crashing to the floor when you open it up?
9YEAH! What a great idea! Hmm I'll have to keep that in mind!
10i will keep marthas idea in mind for when i have the space
11We're buying a house and in the office (i work from home) there's this weird indent in the wall. It's a couple feet deep and starts around midthigh height and goes almost to the ceiling. You can't really sit there, but I plan on putting a ton of shelving and stuff in there for my craft stuff since it's currently just all in ugly plastic drawers.
12Well, I don't craft. If I did, I might make a craft closet.
