Remember when I told you about the Boys and Girls Club in West Oakland that Vern Yip, host and designer of HGTV's Deserving Design is renovating? I've been so curious as to what Vern might do to improve the space.

In one episode, Vern makes over a garage into a game room for a military family's children. He cleans up the space and stocks it with interactive games, spaces for gathering, and lots of kid-friendly storage space. I think that this design might be a good indication of what the deserving kids in West Oakland might get.

I hope he keeps the real linoleum floor.
1Vunder, I am in love with that floor as well. It has some serious cracks in some parts, but I hope it can be salvaged!
2Ooooh I'm a HUGE Vern Yip fan. I always loved his designs on Trading Spaces. And I appreciate how intense he can be about design - people have to live in these spaces! Can't wait for your interview Casa.
We also have the same birthday ten years apart which has me convinced we are meant to be BFF. Hey, I'm allowed to dream!
3I really like his style! I saw one that he made over a guest bedroom and master bath for a young couple, and I'm basing my guest room in our new house on his design!
4i love what he is doing.... i grew up in oakland, and know these kids are more than deserving of this
i bet the end result will be amazing!
