With all eyes on Tropical Storm Gustav a few weeks ago, it seems as if Hurricane Ike snuck up on us. It ended up being a deadly storm. Were you or your home, or the homes of anyone you love, affected by the storm?

No, I was one of the lucky ones. But I do hate it for all those who are sadly caught up in the aftermath.
1We finally got power back on today, hooray! The refrigerator was disgusting, despite our best efforts with dry ice - I'm sure we're not alone in having to throw away hundreds of dollars worth of food. We're glad to have survived safe and sound, inconveniences and all.
2Hurricanes are why I live in Colorado. Not really. But I sure am glad that I do. That whole area has been getting beat up for a while now and it's awful that all those families have to go through that.
3We lost power for 5 days, but were lucky that all of our trees fell away from our house.
4i go to college about 600 miles from home so I wasn't there to feel the affects. that being said, i'm from Seabrook, a town that got hit pretty hard and the things my dad's been telling me have shaken my world. unbelievable.
5I'm from Katy, Tx. About 25 miles from downtown Houston... happy to say that I was one of the lucky ones. There were TONS of fallen trees around my little town though. sheesh. Unfortunately I'm not liking the 12-6am citywide curfew
6I live in Ohio so it seems odd to say that I was affected by Ike. We had a day of high wind. We were lucky to not have anything severe. Just a few limbs down, a couple shingles ripped off and the railing on our back steps was loosened. We did lose power for a day or so, but felt lucky that it came back on when it did.
7no, we were too north, but my bf had to travel for work to help out a bit with the cleanup
