Bordered, Hotel-Style Bedding: A Classic or a Trend?

2

Clicking through Lonny magazine's bedroom photograph archives, I began to notice a trend: bordered, hotel-style bedding. Some are embroidered, some are monogrammed, some are red, some are blue, some are striped, and some are trimmed in Greek key or delicate leaf patterns. Whatever the case, the bordered white linens are everywhere. Out of 89 bedrooms on Lonny's site, I counted 20 boudoirs featuring this style of bedding — look below!

But is it a trend? My mother and two sisters, traditionalists at heart, are all staunch fans of the simple style. And do you want to know why? Because, they say, "it's classic." I understand that it doesn't clash and it matches with nearly everything. But if everyone and their mama is pimping the pretty linens, will it soon be passé?

Tell me below whether you think these sheets will be around for the long haul (I'm talking 20+ years), or are a trend that'll soon be long gone. P.S. If you want some for your own chambre, my mother found a great bargain on a set at Overstock.com ($50).
