I've written about painted headboards before (and even DIY'd my own), so it's really nothing new. But, I am loving how design firm Shelton, Mindel & Associates made the entire wall behind this sleeping space a focal point with bold stripes, and within that created a focal point above the headboard by painting stripes in a slightly lighter shade than the rest. This look is really easy and affordable to achieve in your own home. And, if you don't have a real headboard of your own as this room does, the rectangle of lighter stripes can serve as a headboard alternative. What do you think?

Affordable? Yes! Easy? Haha, not for me. It's a really neat look though, but there is NO way I could DIY
1I think this looks kind of silly...and definitely not easy to do. Not to mention you would never be able to rearrange your furniture...
2It looks really cool but hard!
3Very cool! But definitely looks difficult!
4Smilesp - my thoughts exactly. You would have to repaint the room to move the bed.
Although I guess in some rooms it's totally clear where the bed has to go, like my bedroom where there's only one wall it can be situated against.
But still, I'm not a fan. And the bed in the photo already has a headboard so what's the point?
5Didn't like it very much.. If not because of the moving the bed factor (that you would have to repaint it), it looks a little bit weird the lighter paint in the middle. Looks like you've hanged a paint in there for so long that when you took it off the wall had changed colour...
