I recently came across a wonderful recipe for homemade linen spray at Hallmark magazine of all places and had to share because it's so simple and customizable. It's also an ideal way to infuse the scent of an endless Summer into your bedroom. Spritz a bit onto your sheets or onto your clothes as you're ironing, or spray it into the air to use it like a room spray.
Supplies:
- 16 or 32 oz. spray bottle
- 2 tbsp. 100 proof vodka
- Your choice of two oils, such as jasmine, bergamot, lavender, etc.
- Distilled water
To learn the steps, read more.
Here's how, from Hallmark magazine:
- Mix the 2 tbsp. of vodka and your choice of these oils in the bottle as follows:
- 1 teaspoon jasmine oil and ½ teaspoon bergamot oil
- 1 teaspoon lavender oil and ½ teaspoon sandalwood oil
- 1 teaspoon vanilla oil and 2 drops ginger oil - Then, add distilled water to the bottle until it is almost full.
- Screw on the cap and shake the bottle to disperse the oils evenly throughout.
- Shake lightly before each use.

what a wonderful idea
1This was posted at the perfect time. Just yesterday I was trying to think of ways to make my own linen spray. Now I don't have to think about it. I'll just follow this 'recipe'. Thanks for posting!
2Would this work if you were ironing too? I worked at a jewelry and gift store in Manhattan, and we sold linen water that you could put in your iron!! I loved that idea, but not sure how the oils would react with the heat and fabric.
3love, love the idea! Thanks for sharing
4Hi leeapeea, I've never actually put linen water IN my iron, but I spritz a bit on the fabric with a sprayer, and it seems to be fine.
5I've been doing this for awhile. (I use rosemary and mint.)
6I'd be afraid to use this. I've had oil residue left on my clothes because of something that wasn't supposed to stain but did. I recommend trying this on cheap sheets first or on another fabric altogether.
7This is great. Now I really want to make some.
8thanks Casa, I was just wondering about this over the weekend!
