LOL I love how designers can build a load of crap and then sell it for that much! If someone is willing to pay that much for slabs of wood, they deserve to be swindled.
sushikay! ... and i totally agree with kittennoir. what? like you could e-bay it for.. erm,
$10,0001? option 3 for me too.
Casa, any more info you could give us about the crate-cum-table? i could click your link, but am loathe to leave sugar-land [how lazy is that! hehe]
Wow. That's a lot of cash for that. I could probably get a friend to make me a table just like that, and all I'd have to pay is a 6-pack of cheap beer and a pizza.
This is like those paintings that are nothing but black poured on the canvas, hung with pride at a well-known art institute I know. It should be titled "I can't believe I got away with this!"
I'm going to take crates, post them nearby for $5000 and undercut the bastard!
What the f*ck?
Seriously. Do people really not have anything better to spend their money on? If you want to give away money, donate it. It goes to a better cause.
Estelle, My thoughts exactly. Even if money were no object that doesn't mean you should blow it on useless items, give it to someone that could really use it (there's plenty).
I am not a big one for early modernist furniture, even if it is a very important piece of work for the period. But I would throw money around for art and fashion that is at the cutting edge
of its time!
The thing you all are forgetting is that you could not make IT or buy IT at IKEA. It is from the 1930's and is a design pioneer. You could imitate it and make a look alike. But you did not
make it up. Just like art when people say "I could paint that", they didn't. Someone else did. They could now paint a copy. There is a difference.
And the price must be because it is rare. Still I wouldn't spend 10,000 on this.
i completely agree with robinesque. too many furniture items are going for waaay above the price that they are worth.
go to a junk yard. you can find some great items there to make your own furniture. that is if you like that hobo-chic thing.

i'm not much of a carpenter, but i think even I can make this from crates. $10,000????
1I'm confused by the second option. Someone would spend $10000 on this, thinking that someone else would want to spend more than ten grand on it?
2If anyone is interested I will get my hubby to make an exact replica for 9,000 dollars! You're saving 1,000 dollars!

Casa you're killing me with all these crazy finds! What's next a milk crate for $20K?

Eff that! My parents live on a farm, I'll just make one for myself, thank you very much.
speaking of... I could seriously make 10,000 dollars off of something like that? Maybe this is how I will pay off my student loans.

9It's a serious case of "The Emperor's New Clothes."
10It's such an easy DIY, why would I spend that much?
11I really like it, but I am sure I could make it.
12Wow. People really like to waste money they could use for so much more...
13Heck no! Haha
14AH AH AH AHAHAH AHHHAAHAHAH AHA HAHAHAH AHAHAHAH
Uh, no.
15Oh dear lord no.

17fk NO
18If money's not an issue, as in I must be stupid rich, then yes, but I'll only do it because I can.
19I am like the others, I think we are going to be rich! So capable of making them, even better that I work at a factory that produces crates huh!
20That is crazy!
21What the f*ck?

25Um, no! thats ridiculous to pay that much for Crates!
26i like it, but 10K? honestly?
27Not when I have my IKEA that makes the same thing for $9.99 lol
