One of the most effortless ways to bring Summer style to your home is to set basic votives at your outdoor dining table or around any outdoor space. But melted wax gets messy, and trying to scrape your candle from your votive holder is never a fun task. So I was delighted to learn a helpful trick from Martha Stewart for cleaning votive holders. Just put your votive holder into the freezer for a couple hours, and then the votive will shrink and pop right out. No mess. No fuss.

this is a great tip! I absolutely love the look of a cluster of votive candles lit up on an outdoor table all year round
1Or you can ad a tiny bit of water to the bottom of the votive before you burn the candle, the water keeps the wax from sticking to the sides at all and the wax just slips out

3I opened this in another tab to read later (since I found it this morning) and was really excited to see what to do to get wax out of holder...right before I started reading I thought to myself, probably you just need to freeze them...then what did I read? Am I a Martha Stewart in the making...nah, probably just read it before! LOL none the less, great tip, thanks for helping me remember!
4Wow thanks so much Casa, I was actually wondering about how to clean mine this morning!
5I have done this and it works like a charm!
6I do the opposite and soak the votive holder in hot water for about a minute -- the water isn't hot enough to melt the wax, but it'll make it slide right out!
