If your dining room sits unused during the day, why not work at your dining table? It's nice to have a big space to spread your work out, anyways. Keep a box or file folders nearby to put your paperwork in once the work day is done, so the space will be open for dinner.

I think these are all great suggestions. But it always drives me crazy that no photos of offices every show how people deal with the millions of unsightly cords from things like computers, printers, ipod chargers, etc. I'd love to see some solutions to the perpetual cord problem that every home office has.
