If you've recently painted your house, or have plans to, don't throw those paint cans in the trash. Despite the drips and drabs of paint that may be left on the cans, they can still be recycled. According to Benjamin Moore:
Always check your local recycling regulations, but in general, once they are dried out, they are safe to recycle in your regular recycling.
Eco-stylist extraordinaire Danny Seo recently painted his house and was left with "who-knows how-much paint from Benjamin Moore's Aura Exterior line," so he did some research to find out the regulations. This is great news!

If your city/county has an environmental department that holds hazardous household waste collection events, it can be really good to take your unused paint to be repurposed. Our county blends it all together and it's given to organizations to use for free.
1my city doesn't recycle paint cans unless all the paint is cleaned out of them. I was told to just wait until it all dries out and then toss the cans in the trash
2Personally I keep the leftover paint for touchups and in case I need it later. You can also donate it to the local theater groups who can use it for their scenery and then rinse out and recycle the cans.
