I chose the color of my bedroom to match my bedding, which I couldn't bear to part with, and then the furnishings followed suit. Some of you may have had a colorful furnishing that you loved and painted your walls to complement it. Or, you've done both in various rooms in your home. Take this poll to let me know which came first: the décor or wall color?

I choose both simultaneously. I decide on a style that I want and work with color using digital plans until I have the look I'm going for. Since I'm fond of using mostly 100% original pieces and don't like repros ti gets tough some times and comes down to mostly luck and my skill as a hunter.
1I tend to do both.
2I tend to do both. I love painting and changing colors. I've already painted my room 3 times to match different bedding!
3In my bedroom I have a few favorite finds and I designed around those. In my bathroom I went for red wall and followed with a white soapdish, robe hook, makeup organizer, etc.
4I tend to find inspiration from one particular item that I just love and end up designing the whole room to make that item pop. I did it with a particular accent pillow in my living room, and again with an accent pillow in my bedroom.
5I had a poster that I absolutely love (Paysage aux Papillions, Salvator Dali), and took it to the paint store to match all the major colours to swatches.
From there I picked the paint and bedding and have a handy palette with me when I'm shopping. It's so helpful to have a reference when you're eyeing that throw pillow and wondering if it's the right shade of red.
6I love the color green because I've learned that it's calming. So I opted to paint our living room walls with the shade of green and bought furnishings and accessories later to complement it.
Wall color has the most impact in any room so I chose my color first.
7Choose a colour that suits the architecture and the scenery. My favourite colour is a particular shade of olive green, however, it does not look good in my bedroom. A silver pearlescent paint, however, made brought the room to life.
8The wall color has to come first. I have the same taste in colors for walls and accessories so I'd have no problems. I know what colors I like and that goes for walls and accessories.
9I usually pick out a color scheme that I want and plan my decor around that...usually my color schemes are based on a piece of furntiture or bedding I already own or plan to buy, sometimes based on a photo I love in a magazine. I get inspiration from all sorts of places!
10I couldn't afford to change the carpet in my new house. So, I bought my bedding to match the carpet, painted to match my bedding. It worked well pulling the whole room together.
