That's right. Get out your box of tissues and prepare yourself for this sob story. Lauren Conrad's parents have put her adolescent home, of Laguna Beach fame, on the market for a cosmic $17.9 million, according to Real Estalker. Natch, LC will be experiencing some serious withdrawal issues once the sale goes through, yearning to revisit the place that marked her entrance into "reality" television fame-dom and reminisce over the memories of undying flame Stephen Colletti and her teenage angst. If you've been wondering where LC gets her artistic streak, I should probably note that her parent's 8,000-square-foot, 7-bedroom, 6.5-bath home was actually designed by Papa Conrad himself, otherwise known as architect James Conrad. The property boasts "200-year-old reclaimed oak timbers and hand-carved stone fireplace mantels," an infinity pool seeming "to spill into the Pacific Ocean below," and superb panoramic ocean views. If you ask me, I'd say that LC has a much better eye for real estate than her parents.

it's as if bad taste threw up on that house.
i don't know what so bad about the house...?
i wouldn't mind 8000 square feet of anything.
I wonder why they are selling, Daddy not making anything new because of the market right now?
I wouldnt mind living there if I had 18 mill to drop!
I like it. I like that from the outside it doesn't look like much, it's very deceiving.
It's often hard to move away from the house you grew up in and then when parents sell it, it's harder, because then you know you can't ever go back to visit. I feel for her.
I think its lovely. And apparentley they are not hurting any financially...unless its in foreclosure????? Anyone check the local MLS??
Sad that I know this, but she didn't grow up there, I remember on Laguna Beach, her and Stephen going to see it when it was under construction, I think maybe it was her senior year home, and the year after that before she moved to LA but not her childhood home.
east - ah well that does make a difference. I can still see not wanting my parents to sell it - it's lovely.
East, i remember that too. On LB they were just starting to build it and then towards the end of LC's LB days it was finally done and it showed them in the hot tub lol I was an avid watcher of that show
I could never imagine living in a place that big! Maybe if I had several grown children, but geez!
Okay, I did some investigation and it looks like the Conrads purchased the property in 1997, but the listing information indicates the house was built around 2004. But, the key word in my post was "adolescent" home!
I have never seen Laguna Beach but this house amazing. If I had 18 mil laying around, I would def get it.
Gosh, that's like a dream house. I really love it. LC was/is a lucky girl!
I am in love with the property and the pool. Some of the styles in the house are not my taste, but some features are absolutely gorgeous.
Ooh I want that view
what's wrong with the house? I think it is absolutely gorgeous and the house has an amazing view.
I love this house.
i can't believe i'm going to admit this, but when i watched that special "the hills" recap i saw old footage of her and jason at her parents house right after it was built and it was absolutely gorgeous, both outside and inside. these pics make it look kind of kitsch-y for some reason, but i seriously remember loving it. and that pool is kind of amazing lmao.
I think the house is gorgeous, as I remember from watching LC lounge around it in Laguna Beach. It was really cute when her and Stephen were walking around it when it was getting built, the hot tub thing was cute. There was also an episode of LB where Lauren's younger sister had a pool party there.
I do wonder why they are selling it, maybe they are moving? As I remember, her younger sister from the last Laguna Beach should have already graduated, and probably is in college, so maybe they want a smaller house?
Haha. I don't think they're going to make that kind of money in this market.
Its a nice house, though some of it isn't my taste
Accordingly, the high-end real estate market has largely not been affected by the housing bubble. I'm not speaking about your typical McMansions built by large stock builders with shoddy lending practices, speculative buyers and homeowners walking away from a negative equity situation. I'm sure they can command that price and probably will get around that price when it closes. It's a lovely home with spectacular views.
Wow I'm really wondering why they're selling it. They just built it recently, and it's a gorgeous house!
i love this house!! it's soo pretty...
its beautiful
i think that this location is better than LC's hollywood property. beach property is usually worth more, especially with that view. i'm not too found on the exterior of the house though.
I like it too...I've always thought the pool was amazing!
Gorgeous home! I would be upset too if my parents sold it but I guess they wanted a change. She always has her memories of the home wherever she goes, no one can take that away!
Love the view, very pretty and relaxing... love to visit that house.
Team LC
I like the house, there is a lot of space, it is open the view is beautiful
I like this house! I remember it from Laguna Beach and thinking she has a fab house! Wish I had 18 mil to drop on it right now!
Ooh.. I want to live there..
I wouldn't want my parents to sell THAT house too! Imagine growing up there, the view alone is to DIE for! A little interior redecorating would make that abode heaven. I wish I had 18M. sigh
what an amazing house
Something is very fishy about this house being put on the market. Here's why. On one of the Laguna Beach DVD special features, LC gives a tour of this house. During the tour she pointed out where LC's dad handcrafted a fireplace and it had the Conrad past generation name inscribed in it and LC said when they pass it down to the children she can just remove part of the first hame and it said Lauren Conrad or something like that. I got the impression from this house tour that they were going to keep the house in the family name and pass it down generation after generation. The only thing I can think of is maybe they are scared for a landslide. The landside on Laguna Beach episode was AFTER this house was built. I wonder if the house is insurable for land slides, maybe it isn't so they are scared that if there is a land slide they will lose their home like so many others did in that landslide (as there was no insurance to cover for a landslide. But I am DYING to know why a family heirloom is going to be sold. Something trivial but interesting is when Jim Conrad dropped those palms down they were symmetrical and pointed toward each other. One of those palms has shifted. Anyway, I want to know why they are selling it.
I'm confused. WHY in the hell would you waste your time building a beautiful home we all dream of living,
IN AND THEN SELL? HELLO PEOPLE! Anyways, i just read some of the comments, and someone mentioned this house has been in the family? WOW! i definately would of saved it..Seems like everyone moved out of Laguna beach to persue their dreams.I hope they all saved their homes so they have something to go back to on summer days off. Hmmm lucky kids...
Lauren Conrad’s parents sold the house for much less, and sold it in a hurry. Architect Jim Conrad is hurting for money because he got caught as a land swindler, e.g. Stonehenge Builders, Desert Mountain, Arizona. He also got caught swindling land in Laguna Beach, cheats on his house drawings, cheats on his income tax, cheats on his wife, and is currently being sued by the home owners association and numerous clients here in Arizona and in California.
Architect James Conrad claims that he and his wife are “empty nesters” so they sold their Laguna Beach house. Ooops, they forgot that their 16 year-old, fat-boy son still lives with mommy and daddy. So much for the "empty nest!"
Lauren’s daddy's name is James, AKA Jim, AKA Snake-in-the-grass. He is a below average architect and is not notable for any extraordinary design work or awards. He has very little design talent (copies others) and did not study at a prestigious school. He just built several high-end homes in the desert southwest without any solar features, and is stuck trying to sell the over-priced junk in a loser market. He has made money as a developer in the past, but has been sued several times in the process.
As to the fire sale of his house (estimated at 10 million), the 11 acres that the house is on has a checkered title due to some creative land purchase agreements (Snake-in-the-grass). The house was beaten down in price as well as his other properties tanking in value. All in all he has moved into a much cheaper fixer upper down the coast but will continue to profit as so-called "manager" of his famous daughter Lauren “No-Talent” Conrad. No mater how badly he does on his own, he’ll continue to suck off of her. He has always put up large junk properties and sold them to uneducated and/or unsuspecting buyers or friends (Snake-in-the-grass), and now No-Talent will probably buy one too.
cheats on his taxes? cheats on his wife? those are some tough assertions. do you have proof? i looked him up on the smoking gun dot com and see nothing as far as lawsuits.
it had to be financial problems...they were supposed to keep it for a long time...who builds a house 4 years prior and doesn't think about whether their kids are moving out or not (which is what they said in the hills show). but if you drive through south laguna it sticks right out and is very easy to see. amazing house, amazing pool, and amazing view.
This house is ridiculously BEAUTIFUL!
i really love that house and Lauren Conrad had 2 be one lucky and blessed girl 2 have this house and now i'm sad that her parents are selling it right now and if i had that kind of money my mom would love 2 buy it in califorina. but we're blessed 2 live in Nebraska. Great State and Great places 2 see!!!
Go Cornhuskers
