Sometimes, inspiration comes in very unexpected places, and yesterday, I was inspired by a picture of a brilliantly blue bird. The indigo bunting is a small songbird that is more often seen along roadsides or in abandoned farm fields than it is in heavily forested or urban areas. What this pretty bird with the distinctive song probably doesn't know, however, is that its plumage is the same color as Snorkel Blue, one of the hottest colors this year, and one that's been eagerly co-opted by designers of all ilks. (A very close match to Snorkel Blue is the paint color used on the walls of Carrie's apartment in the Sex and the City movie.) Using the indigo bunting for color inspiration, I found some home items that shared the same shade.

What a beautiful bird. Now let's catch them all and rip out their feathers to make dresses for snobby socialites.
1Beautiful bird and what a striking color.
2I have one that visits my birdfeeder! They are spectacular.
3It's such a beautiful blue! I haven't seen those around my neck of the woods (Illinois), but it is such an exquisite bird.
I love the blue glass bottles and jars and the Crewel Blue chair! They're simply exquisite!
4I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE the color!!
