Are you sick of hearing about Brad and Angelina yet? I hope not, because I've got some more "news" on the Brad Pitt front for you. According to Bloomberg, Brad Pitt was in Switzerland on Tuesday at Art Basel, an annual international contemporary art exhibition which has been pegged "the Olympics of the art world."
After being chauffered there in a BMW, he snapped up two Max Lamb Bronze Poly Chairs ($25,000) and the Family Lamp by Atelier van Lieshout, made of foam and reinforced fiberglass, the Cinderella Table ($293,000) by Dutch designer Jeroen Verhoeven, made of a solid block of Carrara marble, and the Silver Sky rug ($175/sq. ft.) by Colombian designer Jorge Lizarazo, woven from aluminum thread. At the very least, Pitt's little shopping spree, (perhaps not coincidentally the day before Angelina's birthday) cost him a cool $500,000. But, we know Brad and Angelina have a new house to furnish, and Brad's interest in design and architecture is no secret, so this comes as no surprise. I've got to give it to him; he does have a good eye . . . the birch version of the Cinderella table sits in The Collection of New York's MoMA. Perhaps, Brad picked up the contemporary art as inspiration for the new building he's designing in Dubai?

I dont know that he has a 'good eye'. I think he just has a lot of $ to spend.
There are some things $ cant buy.
1Don't worry Casa, I rarely find myself exhausted of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie news, LOL.
As for the furniture, the lamp looks really cool...however, I can't say that any of these pieces could be defined as "child friendly", so one has to seriously wonder where is this stuff actually going, LMAO.
2Good eye my a$$, just because its expensive doesnt mean its worth its price tag.
3Those chairs look MIGHTY uncomfortable!

You always crack me up with your comments...for a spell it reminded me of a comment made by Jed Clampett
I thought the same, only a faqir would find those comfortable!
If you follow the link to Max Lamb site you can see it the mould was created using expanded polystyrene (styrofoam)...not very earth friendly.
5Eh. Not really liking any of it.
(And yes, I'm sick of hearing about them.)
6As much as I love modern furniture, I definitely agree with Jennifer Aniston when she said that now she has a comfy sofa, other than what she used to lounge on when she was with Brad.
7I don't like it
8Art is subjective is it not? Every piece will bring discussion and opinion opposed to just being something to light a room, hold an arse, or rest a cup a tea or stinky feet upon.
9Weird.
10I love the pieces... I wouldn't say that they're my taste.. but from what I've read and seen from Angelina these seem to reflect her personality.. You can also see them working really well in their new French home where you can get away with decadence and the over dramatic... Not all room have to be for the children.. especially when you have so many of them to fill!
11Are you serious flyingroo? expanded polystyrene styrofoam? Thats just disgusting!
12With this plethora of modern furniture the most exquisite and fetching is the Cinderella Table. Modern furniture is more aesthetic than practical and if you are an art collector like Brad and Angie are praticality goes out the door. It is never to early to introduce children to appreciate, respect and enjoy objects D'Art. With 35+ rooms in their newly rented chateau, there will be at least one room with "kid friendly" furniture. By the way Brad is aging just FINE. And I will drink to that with a perfectly aged Bordeaux.
13if i had the money, i'd buy furniture from smaller designers and local artisans. i don't care for any of the pieces above.
