Since it's eco chic month, I can't tell you to avoid reading all of your favorite fab fashion magazines (or shelter magazines), but I will give you a few tips on what to do with your mags when you've finished. It's always nice to pass them along to friends, but if your friends aren't eco-conscious, it's likely they'll end up in a landfill. So, here are a few suggestions on what to do with your light reading when it starts to get heavy.
- Make a mobile out of them.
- Make a box out of them.
- Transform them into an art-like wall-hanging.
- Turn them around and around into a bowl.
- Weave them into a clutch (and have the MoMA sell it).
There are many, many more where these came from, so read more.
- Craft them into a square mirror or a round mirror.
- Make them into round placemats or rectangular ones.
- Roll them up to use as a vase or utensil holder.
- Frame your pretty face with them.
- Make a waste basket out of them.
- Wear a recycled magazine bracelet on your wrist.
- Turn them into bows to wrap your presents with.
- Secure your invites to the fridge by gluing them to magnets.
- Make paper beads from them, or paper bead fine art.
- Create disco madness.
- Make a collage and hang it on your wall.
- Or, use them to store more magazines!

I am SO going to try these ideas this weekend! Marvelous.
1ElizabethRae, you read my lips! I was planning to do mag envelopes as a DIY soon. Look out for it!
2Ack, if only I had tiiime to do these things. These are definitely going on the weekend project list though.
However...my shelter magazines aren't going anywhere. I tab them and save them for ideas and inspiration and use them all the time.
But while I'm not repurposing my heavy magazine load into projects, I DO at least recycle every last one of them!
3I always recycle & reuse my mags.
Reuse: Crap Packages (tm): envelopes full of torn-out magazine articles and ads, and printouts from internet; sent to my best friends for some fun light reading on the airplane or just after a hard day's work. I provide written "commentary" in the margins & on photos, w/an extra-fine Sharpie. Especially a photo - particularly if said photo reminds me of some old running joke between us.
Recycle: throw into the recycle bin, whatever's left from the mauling.
4I used to make the envelopes when I was in high school and sending letters! I'm sure the post office thought I was crazy! They were so cute though!
5These are all great ideas! Thanks for the links on the DIYs.

Nice one! Love the idea.
Hey CasaSugar do you what happened to my comment? A few of mine have been flagged for review lately and I can't figure out why.
7I need to do SOMETHING with them, I have way too many lying around my house!
8I rip out the info I want to keep and pretty pictures. I use makeup and hair pictures to keep for inspiration. It's the best way to get rid of stacks of magazines. Just keep them filed away in organized piles.
9I love the box idea. I might try this as gift packaging.
