I think this is ugly, but...

It would probbably be quite fun in a child's room. You could do so many different things with it. You could paint it in various shades of greens and do the whole jungle theme with it.
You could paint it in bright rainbow colors and make it all funky like. You could do it in tropical colors and do an island theme with it. Or if you really want to damage your child's psyche, you could paint it in purples, pinks etc. and do the whole vegas show girl theme lol.

Some of the movies that come to mind for a theme to use this in a room are: Alice in Wonderland, any Dr. Seuss story, whoville etc., Tarzan, Jungle Book.. you get the idea. For the older children, Austin Powers LOL...

And now for some reason I'm thinking to really play up the tackiness of it, and I'm seeing beads hanging from the canopy to close in the openings...

I'd either paint it dark or strip it down to natural wood. When it's white like that, it looks almost plastic! But I think painting it dark espresso, with maybe even some sort of metallic or really dark auburn accent color in the carvings might make it pop. It could be awesome... or it still could suck.

This would be on EBay on Monday morning. I cannot abide it and cannot even bring my brain to deal woth it. Sorry

I could have easily seen it in one of the bedrooms in the movie, 'Mommie Dearest', based on Joan Crawford's life, starring Faye Dunway playing Joan Crawford.

That Hollywood era. I see it white with light blue, light pink or lavendar linens. A couple lucite lamps around the room. Very airy.

However, if it were up to me, I have to agree with 'lukal' above and put that sucker on EBay first thing Monday morning.

Ikea has some cute monkey stickers you could put on the walls and go jungle theme.
Of course, I wouldn't want to paint it ... it'd take forever.

i'd go with a jungle theme, too and paint the bed in shades of green and drape some fabric to make it look like the gauzy stuff that hangs from trees, and dress it up in a simple brown bedspread/sheets to mimic dirt. i'd have dark wood floors and a grass rug next to the bed.

That would be great in a little girls room. I'd hang some fabric from the top to make it a full blown canopy and put some really bright blue and green tropical bedding on the bed. I think it could be cute.

Don't have any kids so I'd paint it to look like trees (maybe palms). I don't love it but don't hate it either. I own a wooden canopy waterbed and I do love it.

I would probably paint it a variety of blues to make it look like waves and get aqua and white bedding. Then it would easily work in a teen's room. Or if all else failed I agree lukal it would be on Ebay.

I actually think this bed is kind of awesome. Definitely paint it, but definitely do NOT paint it multiple colors. There is no way that could look anything but tacky. The jungle theme ideas are making me cringe.

Solid chocolate brown, or a matte green somewhere between pea and lime, could turn out really nice. I wouldn't fight the '70s theme, but go along with it in a modern, clean way - solid or subtly printed linens in shades of green, brown, gold, and maybe orange, and maybe some texture in a throw or pillows. Because the design of the bed is already so busy, there is no need to clutter it up with busy prints and complicated painting schemes.

Not a fan at all, but it's fun to play along.

I think I'd ditch the bottom bed frame part and set the canopy directly on the floor. Then I'd put a mattress and TONS of comfy pillows underneath. I'd probably paint it a dark green or brown and drape sheerish fabric all the way around and over the top. The overall effect I'd go for would be a a fairytale enchanted forest.

I loathe this bed, but somehow I still want desperately to go all "Rainbow Brite" on this. Really go for it with the color! It would be ridiculously fantastic for some diva with an over-the-top personality.

I wouldn't pick it out for my house, but if I had it and needed to work with it....I would paint it in a metallic, different shades of gold and maybe age it or kinda crackle it. I would put cranberry satin and velvets. It could be Moroccan or like the book The Little Princess.

it might be cute in a kids room if it were twin sized. i'm thinking brightly colored rainforested themed walls and accents and then the white would POP and it almost would seem patterned as leaves in that environment.

i hate this bed...using it would be a stretch.

I really kind of like it, but I would strip it down and do it in a natural and then weather-proof it, get lots of out door pilllows and some really nice sheers to drap around it and put it in my yard for nice days to relax.

I would never put it inside my house though.

I would give it back to Blanche from golden girls before she puts a hit out on me.

Besides the tacky-ness of it....I would be scared of those sharp edges!
I mean... C'MON! those things could poke an eye out for sure when you wake upp....
but I'd at least try to decorate it by painting it black and covering it with rhinestones or
sell it to a hotel in Mexico and have them paint it every color in the rainbow.....

I would paint it with accents of burgundy and golds(I would follow some of the lines and change it up with maybe some faux accents and
some sort of art deco type design integrated into the design) and I would hang indonesian type lanterns the ones with the colored glass all around them, on the inside corners near the head of the bed(looks like there are lights in it.) Then I would add two little corner shelves under the lanterns up near the head of the bed. I would use a large piece of plywood for support under a large pillow type futon mattress and gold and burgundy satin sheets and Comforter, I would hang sheer Burgundy and gold irridesent material for a tent like effect and make it so you can tie back the material like curtains. To finish I would add lots of accent pillows. I would embellish with some teal and bronze tones.

I could see this in anthropologie if the canopy part was cut off and the posts were cut down to the lowest layer of "grass." I would leave it white but use some anthropologie bedding with a lot of green in it. Maybe in a white room it would sort of blend, but the shapes would make it stand out just enough.

Just had a brainstorm - hang mosquito netting from the interior and use jungle themed bedding - why not?

I would put it outside and convert it into a cabana. White linens and sheer curtains.
