How-To: Rewiring an Overhead Fixture
Connecting the New Fixture
Replace the old mounting strap with the one that is with the new fixture, making sure to attach a new copper ground wire to the new mounting bracket. Now, connect the wires on the fixture to the wires from the home (that are coming out of the ceiling) by twisting them together. Then screw on the insulated wire nuts (they're the yellow pieces in this photo). Stuff the wiring into the fixture base, and then screw the base into the ceiling.
