How-To: Rewiring an Overhead Fixture
Disconnecting the Old Fixture
Disconnect the wire nuts (the little plastic caps covering the wires), which connect the fixture wires with the home's electrical wires. The wires will be twisted together, so simply untwist the wires and pull them apart.
