Heiress and Apprentess Ivanka Trump recently made over the "dump" of her assistant out of her own good will and PR motive and shared the process with Glamour, offering up her "expert" decorating tips to their readers. To furnish the apartment, she used "antiques, flea-market finds, and lots of patterns." To me, it looks like she picked up every trendy dècor piece she could find, and barfed it all over the poor girl's pad.
John Robshaw ikat comforter? Check. West Elm overlapping squares daybed? Check. Zebra rugs? Check. Lucite? Check. Ornate chandelier? Check. Then, she topped it off with some metallic Flavor Paper wallpaper, clashing reds and pinks, and big bold stripes. What I find funniest is that the article suggests that readers get one "statement" piece "that's totally whimsical and conversation-worthy," but she herself combined numerous statement pieces, creating a room that for me brings up more gag reflex than conversation. But then again, I am blogging about it, so that counts as conversation, right? What do you think? Am I totally off base here, do you love it?

I have a headache from just looking at the picture. Imagine how she must feel LIVING in that.
1I like some of the pieces, but NOT all at once. It looks so thrown-together. And it's giving me a headache, too.
2For the way she dresses I would have never thought she would approach it like this. It looks like something the hilton sisters would have done. Yuckie.
3I don't love it but I don't entirely hate it either.. I think just take a couple of the pieces and either remove or replace them with something "less" that might do the trick. 2 things that definitely must go for me though are those cheetah statues. On a side note, Ivanka is gorgeous, truly beautiful, and those legs my gosh!
4Hmmmm...I like lots of the things in this pic! BUT, not al together! It seems like I stepped in a Barbie funhouse or something...
5Wow. No. Never.
6i don't really care for it. i like the black/white and pink combo, but there has to be a better way to get it across. it's like there are TOO MANY PATTERNS
7i don't really care for it. i like the black/white and pink combo, but there has to be a better way to get it across. it's like there are TOO MANY PATTERNS
8It's just as tacky and ugly as she is.
9LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!! But, I am a pink girl
I know my hubby would HATE it!
10Little too much going on for me...
11Certaintly gag reflex!!
The particular patterns and colors are too bold to be mixed together. If it was part subtle and part bold I think it would've faired better. I bet the assistant would've done a much better job had done it herself.
12overwhelming. there's just way too much going on. i think with some thoughtful editing down of patterns and going for some subtler tonal combinations there are pieces that could be saved - like the pink chair minus the distracting, oversized pillow and the black and white divan that should be in the living room rather than the couch/daybed that's in there now. wow. like someone so aptly said before me - how does she live in this place?
13It's different and and eye catching , but what is up with the Leopards?
14too much for me. Take out everything and leave the bed. Thats my style.
15I wish the walls weren't reflective, the weird cheetas were gone, and there was only one zebra print rug. Just tone it all down a little! The overall idea I don't mind.
16Totally dizzying. It really makes me appreciate good design and understand exactly how hard it can be.
17"it looks like she picked up every trendy dècor piece she could find, and barfed it all over the poor girl's pad".
HAHAHAHAHAHAH
18I concur.
On a positive note the poor girl can always sell the mish-mosh on eBay and buy things she can really live with [once all of the hoopla dies down and she finds another job - that is]
19It's childish, like a tacky dorm room.
20Tacky...down-right tacky. I feel like there should be a Betty Boop picture hanging on the wall in that sea of tackiness!
21So tacky...it's actually hurting my eyes to look at it
22Looks like a teen decorated it. Too much going on. ANd whats with those leopards?!
23Haha, why don't you tell us how you really feel Casa?
This is a pretty disastrous
combination of too many trends, though I would kinda like the silver walls in another less garish room.
24Nancita, I do think the silver walls are a cool touch, like many of the other items! Unfortunately, all of them together is an eyesore (personally speaking, of course)
25Ewww! It's making me dizzy.
26I do love the pink chair....seems like she did every piece in this room an injustice. Toned down this room could be incredibly beautiful. Then again, looking at glimpses of her father's home, everything is over the top so who would expect anything else from her
27TOO MANY animal prints!
28I would have a migraine every day if I had to live in that mess!
29That is just wrong. I think your home should be more like a retreat not like a Barbie Dream House.
30That picture is giving me a headache!
31She likes it tacky just like her father!
32Its fun and funky. Whats wrong with that?
Depending on that chick's age, its completely appropriate for a fun pad.
Everyone's not into the whole conservative, boring neutrals, restoration hardware, muted earth tones.
Some people like a little color in their lives
33love the wall color.. but its just a little too ADD for my taste
34"To me, it looks like she picked up every trendy dècor piece she could find, and barfed it all over the poor girl's pad."
HAHAHA...so true!
35Huh, I guess I liked it when I saw the before and after shots in Glamour magazine, but now that I see it here it looks too busy.
36there is far too much going on in this room! trashy not classy at all. i understand wanting to be young and hip but this is overboard and dare I say 'cheap'. for someone who was raised with money she has no taste...but then again her father has solid gold fixtures in the bathrooms.
37It's just missing a jar filled with Excedrin. (And some squares of acid. And a loaded gun.)
38is that a joke?
39I read this in Glamour and wondered if you'd comment on it. While I think it's a little much for my taste, I'm not as vehemently opposed to it as you seem to be. Some of the stuff in there is fun! I could imagine, that with a little tweeking, (paint, apholstery,) the girl could end up with something pretty nice! The new layout is far superior to the old one, too.
40so overwhelming! She didn't need to throw it all in!
41Waaaaay too much going on there...
42hideous- but I'd take that one pink chair lol
43Theres too much going on
44I think she should keep her day job as CEO of her daddy's company...It looks like every pattern in the world merged together to poop on her assistant's room. Poor girl!
45it could be pretty without all the dead animal stuff going on
46For a Café maybe,
47for a house NOOOOO!
My eyes are bleeding!
48I like the combo of black and white with the pink, but that room is just too much. I would tone it down a little and use a softer pink with the hot pink as an accent color. The cheetahs need to go
49She really is her daddy's daughter, isn't she? She must have a super stylist for her clothes -- she dresses so refined and elegant you'd never guess she has the interior decorating skills of a Hilton siser.
