She suggests you "frame and mat the poster with no glass, and set it out at the reception for friends and family to sign the mat with their blessings and best wishes." What do you think of this idea? 2I'm not really sure the reason to have a poster invite. It seems to go a bit contrary to what you want an invite to do/be. For me, and invite serves to give information, be lovely to look at, and should easily be stuck on my fridge door with the rest of my crap, and easily brought to the wedding to remind myself of items like the time and address. A poster invite seems...well I can see why the inviter might like a poster, but as a guest, do I really want a poster?
3As a save the date, it's cute, but I second vunder's question as to would I really want it?
4I just don't understand the concept.. why would anyone hang this in their home -other than the bride and groom and maybe their parents? I like the idea of having one poster made up for the wedding to have guests sign and then the couple can hang it in their home afterwards. This just seems rather self absorbed.
5agree with kimpossible... i know that your wedding day is all about you, but does my fridge or calendar have to be all about you too? I do like the signing idea, but sending out 8 bajillion of these seems annoying, at best.
6this is ugly, for one thing - and is a total waste of money and resources for something someone is going to throw out. and signing a copy of the poster at the wedding?! kind of tacky, i think.
7I love the idea, but 11x17 is *WAY* too big. I would make them 3x5, maybe, and tie them with a pretty ribbon inside the (appropriate size) tube. They could have an old-world, invitation to the ball effect.
8For use as invitations would be a waste of money. I like the have the guests sign and frame idea.

10I like the concept of having a poster version of your invitation made out for people to sign, but it seems a bit self-important to think other people would want to put a poster version of your invitation on their walls?
11I said I liked it but it wasn't for me, but really I hate this idea. I didn't know it was 11 x 17. Guess I should read, right? Anyway, I sort of hate getting informal invitations for weddings. I don't like the handmade ones (unless they're really beautiful or creative and most of them are not!) or postcards. It seems like invitations are the first place people skimp.
