Interior stylist Janet Grey was in for some hard work when she was commissioned to redesign this dull and drab kitchen.
To see the transformation, just read more.
Janet explains,
We replaced the basic cabinet doors, which were warped (not shown in “before” photo), with a Shaker style. We continued with the floor, bringing in the green and balancing it with black for a striking alternative-checkerboard effect. The tiled backsplash was designed to build upon these colors – a contemporary Deco look incorporating green glass mosaics to further tie in the gorgeous green knobs.

Wow. The second picture is so much more vibrant!
It's very busy.
I never thought I would like diamonds in this fashion. I love that it is so busy and bright (even though it's dark). Very unexpected.
Yuck. Not inviting at all.
Wow uhh...
maybe it looks better in person, but from the pictures I would not want to cook in or live with that kitchen!
Well, with the before it's an improvement, but a little busy for my taste as Twinkle said.
it is different not sure i am a fine, but if they love it that is cool
Hm. Really, I don't think I would've gone in that direction at all... but it's certainly not drab/boring anymore!
Very interesting and I'm sure it suits the person who lives there.
I like the tiling. I think the color of the walls would get tiresome after a while. But definitely an upgrade from before.
am I the only one who thinks the before pictures sometimes are better than the after? I mean it looks nice and contemporary, but how soon will you get tired of that? I liked the white walls, and would have just taken all the clutter out and freshened it up a little.
wow that's so much color it's almost too much. But I think I'd love it anyway for how unique it is. Better than the ugly kitchen I have now!
Very unique and vibrant, yes. But I'd get sick of it quickly.
I'm not a fan.
hmmm, i like the teal. it brightens up the kitchen and makes it look more fun, but not liking the green so much. and since the kitchen is already bright, i would have done wood floors in the kitchen or at least white tile.
There's way too much going on in that kitchen for me.
Charming stove! I would have loved to see hardwood floors too...everyone's taste is different...(of course mine is better!) jk
I don't like it at all! I think it's too much for such a small space.
i like it better before.
Too overwhelming and green for my taste. Not my style.
both are extremely awful!
There is too much going on for me. The green and blue don't really go together either.
Not for me! Plus, I wouldn't like my stove right against a wall- no room for larger skillets etc.
I love all the green glass!
I think the floor in a different pattern would make it more ... accessible. Just a dark tile? A grey-blue? But I love it as is.
Oh my goodness, I LOVE IT!!!
It feels too matchy-matchy and overly designed to me. There's nothing spontaneous or real to the palette or decor.
That color is nice but I am not a fan of the over all kitchen. The color did make a difference though.
it is much better than before but I am not a fan of the dark colors or the busy patterns.
