Is your bedroom less than relaxing? Want to figure out how to make it a place of comfort and relaxation? Then take a look at my tips!

- Keep your bedroom tidy. Clutter, piles, and messes can stress you out and remind you of tasks that need to be finished. By keeping everything in its place (or at least out of sight), you'll immediately feel calmer.
- Paint your bedroom a relaxing color. Blues, grays, neutrals, and lavenders are good choices for the bedroom.
- Banish your television and laptop. Surfing the net in bed, as well as watching television can lead to physical and mental health issues, including obesity, high blood pressure, and diabetes. So keep the laptop in your office and the television in the living room, out of temptation's path.
For the rest of my tips, just read more.
- Pick a comfortable mattress. Even better, pick a green mattress.
- Keep your bedding clean. Wash your sheets once a week in hot water, which will kill dust mites. Dust mites can exacerbate allergies and respiratory issues.
- Use blinds or curtains that allow in the right amount of light. If you work a late shift, you'll want to invest in blinds that completely shut out the sun. Otherwise, try to let in natural light in the mornings; it will help to wake you up naturally (when you don't have to get up with an alarm, that is).
- Dress your bed with soft linens, and choose sheets with a high thread count.

"Banish your television and laptop."
Yes! I'm intractable on this in my home. Electronics seem to emit a high pitched sound that drives me absolutely crazy. Too many headaches; too much noise.
(My Geek spouse would gleefully move our bed into the den with the computer equipment. He is thrilled by all the whirring, blips and bleeps -- plus the blinking LEDs. . .don't even get me started. **chuckles**)
2mmmmmm bed!!!!
3my bedroom is soooo sleep worthy...just thinking about it now makes me want to go back home and crawl into bed
This is something I struggle with constantly. Right now our room is pretty sleep worthy, but there is always room for improvement. And it's certainly better than it was say 6 months ago. I'm sure we'll have a sleep worthy room once the children are gone and we can use their rooms for offices and gyms lol.
4My room is oyster light grey, has great curtains and is always super tidy.
5Great tips, but how would you expand them to us poor university students whose bedrooms double as offices?
I dream of someday decorating my own home office, but for the moment, desk and filing cabinet are part of the boudoir. It's a double whammy, because not only is it hard to sleep with unfinished work all over the desk, it's hard to work with an unmade bed, or strewn about clothes.
The only perk is that it has me tidying regularly. My mother would never believe that I pick up and put away things on a daily basis.
6Great tips!! My problem is I cant bring myself to get the TV out of the bedroom! The only time I watch TV is at night b4 I go to bed and I started doing that because I was sleeping on the couch half the time when I watched it in my living room- andI love TV at night! Even if I only watch it for 30 min.
7My bedroom is perfect for sleeping and relaxing...when I moved in, I knew I wanted a "calm" color, so I chose a very pale lavender. I just bought all white bedding for spring too...it looks so pretty, I just want to jump in bed the minute I walk in my room! My mattress and bed are brand-new too, super-plush and really high off the ground. I LOVE my bedroom.
8My bedroom is a pale blue and it looks so soothing and relaxing in there. I banished the TV a couple of months ago and it really makes a huge difference.
9My bedroom is so not like this, but is sleep worthy. I painted the walls dark chocolate, it's dark and sexy, and I love it. Our bed is done in a heavy draped comforter in gold, red, and chocolate. We actually have a tv we never use.
10My bedroom is where I spend the most money in my house. I love, love, love falling into a luxurious bed at night. I haven't had a TV in my bedroom for years, but I've gotten addicted to catching up on blogs on my iPhone before falling asleep.
11ok, I'm building a house right now and I want my bedroom to be romantic. My plan is to have my bedroom chocolate brown and burnt orange. Should I paint my walls the burnt orange or just do a soft brown. I so want the walls to be orange but I'm scared it will turn out to bright.
12When you don't have your own place it's impossible to have a bedroom that doesn't double as an office/living room/library. Everything I own is in there! When I eventually have my own place then the tv will definitely be moving out
13TV a couple of months ago and it really makes a huge difference.
