TeamSugar member Schnappycat has shared some photos of her son's nursery. I'm so impressed with her great eye for color and design!

I wanted to keep my son's nursery modern and not too babyish or themed, so he could easily grow into it. I found the Dwell Studio Alphabet crib sheets and adored the blue and brown color combination, so I opted to incorporate the colors into the decor (they were also the colors of my shower and the birth announcements, so it's been the "theme" of my experience so far). However, I also wanted to mix in some brighter colors, so I chose orange as the main accent color (I'm also adding a bit of lime green). You can see the orange stretched Avalisa wall art and the Wise Old Owl Mobile. Silver and metal accents are also present around the room, particularly in the contemporary light fixture and wall letters and numbers from Anthropologie. To keep the room from being too dark, I added a white bookcase, white shelves, a white cat nightlight, and a white end table/storage unit. I also put a lambskin rug in front of the crib. I made the window valance from the crib bumper, which would otherwise go unused. The glider is the Monte Luca. Some of the pictures here were taken before he came home from the hospital, and others were taken more recently, so the items in the pictures differ a bit here and there.

It's really beautiful! You've done an amazing job!
1I LOVE this. Great job.
2I especially love the paint job!!
3What an awesome nursery! Just not sure I get the style of high chair rail?
4i really like this. gives me a bit of inspiration! thanks.
5Really precious! I threw a baby shower recently using brown, pink and sliver, so I'm completely into this!
6I love the color palette. It's not too cutesy, and it could easily work for a boy's room or a girl's.
7Wow, this is me! I was so surprised to log on and see this. Thanks so much!
And GreenSkittlesGal, my husband did the painting himself and it took forever for the stripes because we have textured walls. He did an awesome job, better than any professional, but swears he'll never paint again. Hee.
eeyore, that is a good question. I'm actually mad at myself for the chair rail height now, because it's right at picture height and makes hanging things tricky. Duh! And I even thought it out (and sketched it), but somehow forgot about that small detail. It was my one big mistake. But I was pregnant and not thinking straight, so I blame that. Heh. But I didn't want typical chair rail height, which I tend to associate with a dining room, and liked the look of the 1/3 division. So that's how it came to be. I still think it looks good, but logistically has posed a problem. Oops.
8LOVE IT! LOVE IT! Thank you for not being pastel! I love all the use of colors. At first I didn't like the white furniture, but then I saw the white details along the walls and windows. Thank you for using more than two colors. I love stripes on a wall, and I love when it's cut and there is a plain color. OMG! What a lucky little boy!
9Wonderful! I am so excited to see a nursery on Casa because I have been thinking about how to decorate my daughter's nursery (due in June). This is a beautiful one, very original and I bet you will enjoy it for the next few years! Now I want to post pictures of my son's nursery!
10I just looked at all the pictures again and I love what you did! I think you could have done the chair rail all around the room even. But I know what you mean about hanging the pictures... My son's room is painted in a similar way (stripes) and the design cutoff is at about the same height as yours, only we didn't put a chair rail.
11Also, we have the exact same swaddle as the one you have on the back of your chair and I love it!
You should post your pics, romaniagrl! I was actually partly inspired by a girl's nursery I saw last year that had a similar design, but with pink and brown. And my son is swaddled in it right now, sleeping in his bouncer. We also have it in a blue pattern. It's a great blanket.
12You did an amazing job! it's very cool and modern, but cozy at the same time.
13great job! i love the color combination and the sheets you chose. i like how they are coordinated with the window treatment.
14Love it!!! I love the combos of blue/brown and pink/brown. Never would have thought about putting silver with it but it looks very good!
15I am definitely going to steal the idea of using the bumper as a valance. Genius!
Actually, tdamji, the window treatment is part of the bedding set. I turned the bumper into the valance because I wasn't going to use the bumper in the crib and needed something for the window. I had already looked around a bit for some curtains or valance, so this worked out great!
16It's awesome. We picked solid colors for our sons room as well. No disney theme for us. We wanted him to be able to grow in the space without having to do too much change.
17This is a weird nursery. I like the classic pink or blue better.
18What a sweet nursery! It'll grow right along with him. Kitty motif is fun. Love the painting.
19This is literally the coolest nursery I've ever seen! I would live in there (with a different bed of course)!
20Wow that looks so pretty!
