I've always been under the impression that feather dusters simply redistribute dust, but it's a little more complicated than that. Apparently, ostrich-down feather dusters actually work; their feathers will trap the dust, and then you can shake it out later outside of your house. However, dusters made of anything else, including lamb's wool, chicken feathers, or synthetics, won't do a thing to help your home's dust situation. Better to ditch the nonostrich feather duster and opt for some microfiber towels and Method. You can also read some of my other dusting tips here.

I hate dusting and nothing I do seems to work except a rag.
1I love my microfiber rag.
2Those feather dusters are ridiculous. You can totally see how they just move dust around. All that's going to accomplish is aggravating my sinuses.
3I think the dust just moves around too. You never seem to get all of it the way you want. I use other methods also.
4I'll have to try one of these for cleaning my ceiling fans. Those collect so much dust.
5I use my microfiber cloth for everything.
6I absolutely swear by Swiffer dusters. I have gotten so many people addicted to them!
7I just use cloth and dusting spray.
8When you have two cats, dusting suddenly becomes something you take more seriously! I swear by a cloth and dusting spray, because it gets ALL the dust off, and the non-allergen spray I use significantly deters it.
