Cool Idea: Chandeliers in the Street

Feb 26 2008 - 2:00pm

Annually at Christmastime in Strasbourg, France, a sleepy city on the border of Germany, a row of Baccarat chandeliers are suspended above Rue des Hallebardes. The tradition is called "Les Fastes de la Lumière," meaning "The Glories of the Light." Each luminary is encased in a transparent cage, so it is protected but its elegant glow is not diminished. It's a stunning, unforgettable sight, and a must-see if you ever find yourself there.
