I've been posting a ton of ideas for bringing romance to your Love Shack this month, including plenty of products and a handful of crafty DIYs. One place still to be conquered, though, is the bathroom.

So for this Open House, I want to hear your tips and thoughts on transforming your bathroom into a calm and tranquil spa-like chamber, where romance is bound to follow. Aside from the Bath-O-Matic Bathtub Filler, what products do you use or suggest to get the look and feel of a spa? What color schemes work best? What DIY projects have you completed to make this transformation? What layout and methods of organization and storage do you recommend?

I definitely think a soft color scheme and a clean, minimalist look help create a spa-like vibe in the bathroom.
Thick, fluffy towels, some candles...
1Mhhmmm, nice calming colors are a must and natural lighting as much as possible. Oh and a nice tub.
2For me, it's all about the lighting in the bathroom. In my apartment, there were two shower curtains that formed the window covering, and it made it a terrible place to be. The shower was claustrophobic and didn't let in any natural light. So I put art deco film over the windows to create bamboo stained glass, and it's beautiful!
3Large, whirlpool tub isn't negotiable. It should have a handheld spray and a waterfall faucet. Granite or marble countertops, luxurious fixtures, ceramic or marble floor. Fluffy towels (ribbed is my favorite), plush robe, and microfiber hair towel. The tub should either be in the corner or have a set-in window so there is plenty of room for candles on the ledge. Skylight above the tub, OR if that isn't possible, a large picture window. The shower must be separate, and glass enclosure or walk-in made of tile/large mirror. TV and/or surround sound music system. This is pretty much what my bathroom looks like except my townhouse was built in the 80's and the fixtures haven't been updated.

Soft and warm colors are always a great starter.
6My bathroom is a lot like Modern girl's. It has a monochromatic browns scheme, which is really quite relaxing. I also have river rocks scattered about, some shells, lots of candles, bamboo- very earthy things. Some other things I love about my bathroom are: my flat panel between the tub and shower (I can get some 'me' time with a soak while watching a chick flick and having a glass of wine- multitasking!), my big glass jars which I've filed with Epsom Salt and various soaks with scoops, and my organizational system which is comprised of banana leaf baskets.
One MUST for a spa-like bathroom is dimmer switches! My fave is the Lutron Maestro IR digital dimmer because it remembers your favorite setting- and the remote control is quite handy, too!
7SweenLow, that sounds beautiful! I like the idea of dimmer switches. But, why not just light some candles? I love the earthy looks, also. Clean, but not cluttery. What about some stylish glass windows (or a wall) that will allow light, but still allow privacy? Definitely need a place to store Epsom salts & essential oils! A friend of mine had twin european pedestal sinks with a long slender banister above that stretched wall to wall with a large mirror above. It was beautiful!
